SEGA announces Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania

June 17, 2021 by Andrew Newton

Get ready to celebrate 20 years of AiAi and the monkey gang this October as SEGA announce Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania, a modern HD remaster of the original 3 Super Monkey Ball games. This remastering of Super Monkey Ball, Super Monkey Ball 2 and Super Monkey Ball Deluxe will arrive on 5th October on PC and consoles.  Check out the new announcement trailer below….

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania will feature all the excitement of the original games as players roll, tilt and bounce through more than 300 lovingly recreated levels and 12 fun minigames.  There’s a huge cast of delightful characters to encounter as they make their return from the worlds of Super Monkey Ball.

Through immersive comic book-style storytelling, players can race to thwart the dastardly schemes of the evil monkey mad scientist Dr. Bad-Boon.

On the multiplayer front, there’s four player local co-op to enjoy as well as online challenges and the chance to share your scores on the leaderboard.

“We’re thrilled to announce a new Super Monkey Ball at the same time as we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of this beloved series,” said Toshihiro Nagoshi, SEGA Creative Director and Creator of Super Monkey Ball. “Everyone’s support, especially fans overseas, has been a big encouragement to the development team over the years. We can’t wait to reintroduce the rich world of Super Monkey Ball to a new audience.”

“I’m so excited to finally share this news with AiAi fans around the world,” said Masao Shirosaki, Producer/Director of Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania. “It’s an honour to be a part of such an iconic series with 20 years of history. Super Monkey Ball’s charm and playfulness is deeply rooted in its DNA, and we’re eager for our fans to experience the joy and wonder of the newest adventure.”

As well as a standard edition of the game there will also be a Digital Deluxe Edition featuring additional character skins, console skins, customisable items and soundtrack.  Should you prefer something physical to commemorate this birthday there will be a special 20th Anniversary Edition in retail stores and will include cosmetic items, a reversible cover, collectable sleeve and an art book.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania arrives on PC and consoles on 5th October.
