Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldana star in Emilia Perez trailer

September 30, 2024 by Ricky Church

Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming musical drama Emilia Perez starring Zoe Saldaña (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Selena Gomez (Only Murders in the Building). Watch the trailer below…

Emilia Perez premiered at the Cannes film festival earlier this year and was the subject of several rave reviews and festival awards including the Jury Prize and Best Actress for the ensemble cast. The film was directed by Jacques Audiard from a script he wrote. Netflix bought the distribution rights to Emilia Perez in the wake of its Cannes success.

Starring alongside Saldaña and Gomez are Karla Sofía Gascón (The Noble Family), Adriana Paz (Spectre), Edgar Ramírez (The 355) and Mark Ivanir (Heart of Stone).

The official synopsis reads: “This odyssey follows the journey of four remarkable women in Mexico, each pursuing their own happiness. The fearsome cartel leader Emilia (Gascón) enlists Rita (Saldaña), an unappreciated lawyer stuck in a dead-end job, to help fake her death so that Emilia can finally live authentically as her ‘true self’ and undergo gender reassignment surgery.”

Emilia Perez will release in select theatres on November 1st and premiere on Netflix November 13th.
