Serial killer series Dexter returning for limited revival at Showtime

October 14, 2020 by EJ Moreno

Though it ended on a low note for many fans, Showtime is looking to change how we look at Dexter forever now. Today, the network has announced that it has ordered a limited series revival of the serial killer drama, with original actor Michael C. Hall set for a return.

Showtime put in an order for 10 episodes, with its production set to begin in 2021 and planning a debut that fall. The former showrunner for the series Clyde Phillips is also set to return.

“Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago,” said Gary Levine, co-president of entertainment for Showtime. “We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world!”

The original Dexter series followed a serial killer who specifically targeted other serial killers while also holding down a job as a blood spatter expert for the Miami Police Department. There are no details on the plot of the revival at the time of reporting.
