Shang-Chi’s Simu Liu is hoping to appear in an Avengers movie

September 3, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Having made history as the lead in Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first Asian-led superhero movie, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Simu Liu has been speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about his potential future within the MCU, and while he claims he’s yet to hear of the next step, the actor already has his eye on a team-up with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

“In terms of what’s next, I know what’s on my mind is the same as what’s on everybody else’s mind, and hopefully, there’s an Avengers in the future, somewhere,” said Liu. “Obviously, I don’t know anything about that, but being such a big fan of the whole franchise, I know that that’s the gold star. All of the media frenzy that surrounds one of those properties is going to be a whole beast unto itself, so it’s certainly what I hope for.”

As yet, there’s been no word from Marvel on the future of the Avengers franchise post-Endgame, with the studio seemingly focussed on expanding the MCU on both the film and TV front throughout Phase Four rather than reassembling Earth’s Mightiest Heroes for another huge team-up event. It will of course happen at some point, but with so many different projects in the works who knows where Liu’s Shang-Chi might appear next.
