Silent Hill: The Short Message available for free on Playstation Store as Silent Hill 2 gets new trailer

February 1, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Konami has announced that Silent Hill: The Short Message is now available to download for free from the Playstation Store.  This surprise new entry into the psychological horror franchise is a short game that brings the world of Silent Hill into the modern world while keeping to the winning formula of previous games in the series.  Konami has also received a new combat trailer for the upcoming remake of Silent Hill 2, and you can watch this below…

In Silent Hill: The Short Message, players follow the game’s protagonist, Anita, as she travels to an abandoned apartment complex on the outskirts of the city after a mysterious phonecall from a friend. The rundown, quiet apartment complex provides an eerie atmosphere and as Anita explores the dark interiors she is forced to come face-to-face with the dark truth that she had tried to shut away.

In this day and age of social networking, slander and bullying occur more frequently than ever before and this new story, the first Silent Hill title in over a decade, will feature these as a theme and expose a new generation to the psychological horrors that the franchise can deliver.

Konami has released five videos for Silent Hill: The Short Message where they go behind-the-scenes with the director, cast and development team.  These videos may contain spoilers, so be warned…

The new Silent Hill 2 trailer takes a look at how combat has evolved since the original game was released all those moons ago. It shows how smoother and easier combat looks as the character fights his way past iconic monsters such as the Bubble Head Nurses and the Mannequin.

While you wait for SILENT HILL 2 to be released (Playstation 5 and PC) be sure to head on over to the Playstation Store and download SILENT HILL: The Short Message for free.
