Six Ships That Deserve Their Own Spin-Off Show

July 18, 2022 by admin

When TV writers get it right, it’s fantastic – but when they get it wrong, it can lead to utter heartbreak. Though we have seen many iconic and groundbreaking pairings and relationships over the years, here are 6 ‘ships’ that either should have been each other’s ‘endgame’, or were robbed of the ending that they deserved. With such dedicated fanbases, spin off shows of these characters would only serve to benefit both viewers and advertisers alike.

1. Kara Danvers and Lena Luthor – Supergirl

Throughout Supergirl, Kara Danvers and Lena Luthor have always had a clear connection. Though the series always paired them with half-baked male characters, their “friendship” was the thing that always stayed true. Despite never formally dating on the show, Kara and Lena’s flirtationship was undeniable. Now that the show itself is over, now would be the perfect time to explore what could (or should) have been.

2. Regina Mills and Emma Swan (…or Robin Hood!) – Once Upon A Time

Whether you are a SwanQueen or OutlawQueen shipper, there is one thing that we can all agree on – Regina Mills deserved better! From the first episode of the first season, right the way through to the series’ mixed-reviewed final season, Regina truly carried Once Upon A Time.

3. Ava Sharpe and Sara Lance – DC’s Legends of Tomorrow

With the sudden cancellation of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, we left Sara and Ava happily married and pregnant with their first child. If we don’t get the revival audiences have been hoping for, this pairing definitely needs its own spin off show, if nothing else, just to see their cute domestic moments as they raise their part-alien part-human clone daughter.

4. Morgana Pendragon and Merlin – Merlin

Let’s be honest, Katie McGrath seemingly has chemistry with everyone – evidenced by her second entry onto this list. It would have been super interesting to see how Morgana and Merlin might have developed romantically if Merlin had told her about his magic sooner.

5. Barney Stinson and Robin Scherbatsky – How I Met Your Mother

How I Met Your Mother’s controversial ending certainly upset many of its fans. Barney and Robin, for some, should have been ‘endgame’ – their relationship was raw, charming, and complicated, which was extremely relatable and endearing for viewers to watch unfold. It probably did not help, either, that the titular character of Ted was highly unlikeable!

6. Phoebe Halliwell and Cole Turner – Charmed

Ever since Cole renounced evil to be with Phoebe, this ship left viewers hooked. Eventually, Cole sacrificed himself to save Phoebe’s new husband, leaving both the middle Halliwell sister and viewers alike to mourn their ship sailing. With the Charmed reboot amongst The CW’s seemingly endless cancellations, now is the perfect time to revisit such a beloved couple.

These six ships are certainly some of the most beloved of all time. Due to this, they come with a dedicated army of fans that are dying to see their ships become endgame. This is an exciting TV advertisement prospect, as advertisers are essentially guaranteed an attentive audience that will tune in every single week, thus, of course increasing the chance of conversion.

With all this in mind, it is almost a no-brainer that we should get to see these characters on our screens again soon.
