Sonia Braga joins the cast of Marvel’s Luke Cage

With Jessica Jones now on Netflix, Marvel is moving full steam ahead with casting on the third Netflix series Luke Cage, with the official site revealing that Sonia Braga (Brothers & Sisters) is set to play Soledad Temple, the mother of Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple.

“A character as strong as Claire needs an equally powerful mother, and with Sonia we found the perfect actress to deliver the stellar performance we needed,” states Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “In Marvel’s Luke Cage, fans will now get a chance to see where Claire got the fire we love her for.”

Luke Cage is set to get arrive on Netflix in 2016, with Mike Colter leading the cast as Power Man alongside Rosario Dawson (Daredevil) as Claire Temple, Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy) as Shades, Alfre Woodard (Desperate Housewives) as Black Mariah, Simone Missick (Ray Donovan) as Misty Knight, Mahershala Ali (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay) as Cottonmouth, Frank Whaley (Gotham) as Detective Scarfe and Sonia Braga (Brothers & Sisters) as Soledad Temple.
