Sony enlists Triple Frontier director for Kraven the Hunter movie

August 21, 2020 by EJ Moreno

Another one of Spider-Man’s greatest foes will get the solo film treatment from Sony as Deadline is reporting that Sony Pictures is moving forward with its Kraven The Hunter movie and the studio is reportedly eyeing J.C. Chandor, the man behind A Most Violent Year and Triple Frontier, for the director’s chair.

Following in the footsteps of Venom and Morbius before it, Kraven The Hunter will follow one of Spider-Man’s most recognizable villains. In the comics, Sergei Kravinoff, aka Kraven the Hunter, is a formidable enemy of Spider-Man, the half-brother of the Chameleon, and one of the founding members of The Sinister Six. Kraven considers himself a big-game hunter and sees killing Spider-Man as a way to prove himself as the best hunter in the world. There’s no word yet if the film will be an origin story or will see Kraven hunting after his most notable prey.

This film is just another in Sony’s growing line-up of movies based on the Spider-Man universe. Just a few days ago, it was revealed that Olivia Wilde will direct her own female-led Marvel movie, speculated to be Spider-Woman, while both Morbius and Venom: Let There Be Carnage are set to hit cinemas next year.
