Spider-Man’s Jon Watts developing podcast adaptation Murder 101

June 25, 2024 by Matt Rodgers

Amazon MGM Studios has won a hotly contested auction to secure the rights to true-crime podcast series Murder 101, with Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s Jon Watts set to produce and direct.

Murder 101 will be a feature film based on KT Studios’ and iHearts podcast series, which tells the story of a small Tennessee town, where a local serial killer was caught by the most unlikely investigators: a group of high school students, led by their teacher. Throughout the course of one school semester, the class of amateur sleuths pieced together a 30-year-old mystery in order to identify the killer behind at least six brutal murders.

Per Deadline’s report, KT Studios’ Stephanie Lydecker will produce alongside Watts and Dianne McGunigle.

Next up for Watts is George Clooney and Brad Pitt starrer Wolfs, which he wrote and directed for Apple TV+, followed by the Disney+ series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.
