Star Wars: Episode VII to revisit Hoth?

March 24, 2014 by admin

We know we’ll be seeing some familiar faces in Star Wars: Episode VII, and it seems we might be getting to revisit a familiar location too. No, it’s not Tatooine (although surely that’s a given at some point during the Sequel Trilogy), but rather the ice planet of Hoth, which of course housed the Rebel Alliance during The Empire Strikes Back.

According to Icelandic news site Visir (via Blastr), “crews in Iceland may arrive in April to film ‘plate shots’, background images that will then be used for green-screen work done by the cast on a soundstage.” So, no freezing weather conditions for Abrams and company. Of course, there is a chance this is little more than a rumour, as there really doesn’t appear to be much of a reason for our characters to revisit such a remote, desolate and hostile word, but with production set to get underway in May, we should find out soon enough…

Star Wars: Episode VII is set for release on December 18th, with Adam Driver (Girls) reportedly set to play the villain, and the likes of Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo) and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) all but confirmed as reprising their roles from the Original Trilogy.
