Starz rewrites history with Spartacus: House of Ashur trailer

July 30, 2025 by Amie Cranswick

Starz unveiled a gory, action-packed trailer at San Diego Comic-Con for the upcoming spinoff series Spartacus: House of Ashur.

The drama series is set in a alternate reality that sees Nick Tarabay’s Ashur having survived his fate on Mount Vesuvius in the season three finale of Spartacus, and his treachery rewarded as he is gifted the Gladiator school, raising his own band of gladiators, flipping tradition as he unleashes the powerful gladiatrix Achillia (Tenika Davis).

Joining Tarabay and Davis in the cast are Graham McTavish, Jamaica Vaughan, Ivana Baquero, Jordi Webber, Claudia Black, Jaime Slater, India Shaw-Smith and Leigh Gill. Check out the trailer below…

“What if he lived, and the Romans rewarded his treachery with the gladiator school where he once bled? Welcome to the House of Ashur. No longer a slave, Ashur has clawed his way to power, owning the same ludus that once owned him. But ruling a band of merciless gladiators is child’s play compared to surviving the savage world of Roman politics — a cutthroat game in which betrayal isn’t a sin, it’s currency. He flips tradition on its head by unleashing Achillia, a fierce and powerful gladiatrix eager to prove herself worthy in a man’s world. Together, they ignite a new kind of spectacle that shocks, disrupts, and offends the elite with every drop of blood.”

Spartacus: House of Ashur is coming to Starz later this year.
