Stranger Things season 4 episode count and production dates revealed

October 27, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Last month, Netflix officially announced that it has renewed its hit supernatural drama series Stranger Things for a fourth season, but if you were hoping to see Eleven and the gang back soon, then we may have some disappointing news for you.

As reported by TV Line, filming on the new season – consisting of eight episodes – is set to get underway in January and last for around seven months, finishing up in August.

That puts it on par with the production schedules for the first three seasons, which have taken at least four months from wrap to screen, meaning that we may not see the show until December 2020 at the earliest.

A December 2020 premiere would be fitting should the Duffer Brothers choose to set the new season around Christmas, although it’s also worth pointing out that previous seasons have been set during the winter, autumn and summer… so could we be looking at a spring premiere this time around?

As you’d expect, plot details for season four are being kept under wraps, the announcement teaser did reveal that “We’re not in Hawkins anymore”, suggesting that the world of Stranger Things is about to get a whole lot bigger.

The first three seasons of Stranger Things are available to stream now on Netflix, and feature a cast that includes Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Charlie Heaton, Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery, Cara Buono, Dacre Montgomery, Sadie Sink, Priah Ferguson and Cary Elwes.
