Suicide Squad 2 script is complete, sequel will aim to “deepen” the characters

September 20, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Production may have been put on hold due to Warner Bros. and DC Films’ decision to move ahead with the Harley Quinn-led Birds of Prey film, but it seems that development on Suicide Squad 2 has been ongoing behind-the-scenes.

Speaking to Discussing Film, screenwriter Todd Stashwick – who has been penning the script with David Bar Katz and director Gavin O’Connor – has revealed that the screenplay is now complete.

“We have finished our draft and I’m really proud of it,” said Stashwick. “It’s a sequel to the first film. Again, I can’t say anything else. Our intention is to tell an exciting story, deepening these characters.”

Given those comments, it would seem safe to assume that the intention is to have all of the surviving members of Task Force X will be back for the sequel, along with Rick Flagg and Amanda Waller.

Details on Suicide Squad 2 are being kept tightly under wraps, but there have been several rumours about the film, including the possibility of appearances from Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam and Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke., as well as the android villain Amazo.

Are you looking forward to Suicide Squad 2? Who would you like to see as the villain? Let us know in the comments below…
