Sylvester Stallone teasing Drago return for Creed 2

July 4, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Back in January of last year, Sylvester Stallone revealed that development was underway on a sequel to the acclaimed Rocky spinoff Creed, and while the project has been put on the back-burner due to director Ryan Coogler and star Michael B. Jordan’s adventures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Black Panther, Sly has spent much of the past week teasing Creed 2 on Instagram, as well as suggesting a link to Rocky IV…

Stallone has previously suggested that Creed 2 could mirror Rocky IV, stating that: “One option would be a linear story with Adonis that mirrors the plot of Rocky IV. You’ll have him face a different opponent, which I would say is a more ferocious, big Russian.”

Meanwhile, Michael B. Jordan also revealed that he’d like to see a “real villain” in the sequel, someone that Adonis could “have some real animosity towards” – and Ivan Drago (or Drago Jr…?) would certainly fit the bill there, given that he was responsible for killing Adonis’ father Apollo Creed in the ring in the 1985 classic.

What do you want to see from Creed 2? Let us know in the comments below…
