Sylvester Stallone’s Cliffhanger 2 to shoot in summer 2024

December 19, 2023 by Gary Collinson

Sylvester Stallone is getting ready to return to the peaks as mountain search-and-rescue ranger Gabe Walker in a sequel to the 1993 action blockbuster Cliffhanger, and a new report from Screen Daily indicates that the film is set to shoot in Europe this coming summer 2024.

As per Screen’s report, the sequel will see Sly back as Gabe, “who is now living in the Dolomites where he runs an exclusive mountain lodge. When Gabe and a high-profile client are taken hostage during an adventurous weekend trip, his daughter has to use all her climbing skills to outwit the kidnappers, triggering a battle of life and death.”

The original Cliffhanger was directed by Renny Harlin and saw Stallone as a mountain search and rescue climber who finds himself embroiled in the heist of a U.S. Treasury plane on the Rocky Mountains. It was a smash hit at the box office, grossing $255 million worldwide from a $70 million budget.
