The Babysitter director McG hopes franchise becomes a trilogy after Killer Queen

September 14, 2020 by Liam Waddington

The second movie in Netflix’s The Babysitter series titled The Babysitter: Killer Queen, debuted on the streaming service, and despite middling reviews, director McG hopes a third instalment will be developed.

During an appearance on The Boo Crew Podcast, McG explained that he has always envisioned The Babysitter as a three-part series and the possibility of where the story could go if a third instalment entered production in the future.

“There have always been three beats to this story,” McG said. “There’s the first beat, which is an adolescent Cole, who is having these strange feelings about the babysitter. But naturally it’s not appropriate for him to realize those feelings with a grown woman. In the second film he’s in an age where he can experience love… and we could explore that.”

“I don’t want to talk about the third beat of the Cole arc,” he continued. “But should the audience like this movie, we’re ready to do the third one. Let’s see if people like this one.”

The Babysitter follows a young Cole on a night when teenager Bee was babysitting him, but it quickly turned sinister as he discovered Bee leads a murderous cult intent on living forever. However, when the cult suddenly returns from beyond the grave in Killer Queen, Cole has to once again outwit them and survive the night.

The Babysitter: Killer Queen is directed by McG and features returning stars Judah Lewis, Emily Alyn Lind, Robbie Amell and Bella Thorne from 2017’s The Babysitter, along with new additions Jenna Ortega, Jennifer Foster, Maximilian Acevedo, and Juliocesar Chavez
