The Batman and other productions can restart filming in UK

June 2, 2020 by Samuel Brace

The UK has announced blockbusters like The Batman can re-start shooting as soon as July providing safety measures are met.

Since the pandemic hit, films all across the world have had to halt production. Some films, like The Batman were in the middle of shooting in the UK but now, thanks to new governmental guidelines, things can resume.

The Guardian is reporting that if guidelines are met, shooting for films like The Batman and Fantastic Beasts could get back underway as soon as July: “The guidelines, drawn up by the British Film Commission and the British Film Institute, include rules on physical distancing, safety training and temperature tests.

“The document has been signed off by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), Public Health England and the Health and Safety Executive. However, it will still be up to each individual production to decide how, and when, to restart filming.”

This is certainly good news for those crew members who have been out of work since the pandemic and for us fans who are eager for films like The Batman to finish production.

The Batman sees Robert Pattinson (The Lighthouse) donning the cape and cowl as Bruce Wayne/Batman alongside Zoe Kravitz (Big Little Lies) as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Colin Farrell (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Paul Dano (Escape at Dannemora) as Edward Nashton/The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright (Westworld) as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis (War for the Planet of the Apes) as Alfred Pennyworth, John Turturro (The Big Lebowski) as Carmine Falcone, Alex Ferns (Chernobyl) as Commissioner Pete Savage, Con O’Neill (Ordinary Lies) as Chief Mackenzie Bock, Peter Sarsgaard (The Killing) as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson and Jayme Lawson (Farewell Amor) as Bella Real.
