The Clone Wars composer has made more Star Wars music than John Williams

March 5, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Kevin Kiner, the composer for Star Wars: The Clone Wars, has revealed that he has made more Star Wars music than anyone else – including the legendary John Williams.

When people think of Star Wars, the music of John Williams is never far away. His iconic scores are a huge part of the franchise and it would not be the same without his work.

However, it’s Kevin Kiner who has made the most Star Wars music in history, with his combined works for Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels, taking him past the legendary Williams.

Speaking to Screen Rant, Kiner said: “As far as Clone Wars, it’s always going to have, because it’s Clone Wars, it’s always going to have that Star Wars John Williams palette as part of it, but I would say we get away from that more often than ever in season 7. And just kind of our own direction and the electronics really help that. I mean, I don’t know how many hours, I think I added it up one time, we did way over a hundred episodes of Clone Wars and I think close to a hundred episodes of Rebels, I mean I know I’ve written more Star Wars music than anyone ever alive, so I win if you get paid by the pound I guess.”

Now that Williams has stepped away from scoring Star Wars movies, it’s going to be interesting to see how the scores change and if they retain the famous themes we all love. Perhaps Kiner will be part of whatever comes next? Let us know your thoughts in the comments or on our social channels @flickeringmyth…
