The Flash loses director Seth Grahame-Smith over ‘creative differences’

April 30, 2016 by Ricky Church

As Warner Bros.’ DCEU is just getting started, The Flash has just lost its director, Seth Grahame-Smith, over ‘creative differences’ according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Grahame-Smith is the author of the parodies Pride & Prejudice & Zombies and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter as well as the screenwriter for their film adaptations. He is primarily a screenwriter and Flash would have been his directorial debut. There is no word yet on what these creative differences might have been, but perhaps WB were a little wary of letting a first-time director have control over such a hot property. Though Grahame-Smith has left the film as its director, WB will still retain his script, one he worked off of a treatment written by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

Even though he’s left The Flash, Grahame-Smith is also involved with several other WB projects. He’s been tapped as the screenwriter for The LEGO Batman Movie, along with writing Beetlejuice 2 and the remake of Gremlins.

Ezra Miller will star as The Flash in the solo movie. Miller had a cameo appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and will be seen as Barry Allen in Justice League – Part One. Despite losing its director, this is a relatively minor setback as The Flash will be released March 3, 2018, giving WB plenty of time to find a replacement.
