The Last of Us earns 8 nominations at GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics Dorian TV Awards

June 15, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Have the Dorian TV Awards just launched The Last of Us to frontrunner status heading into awards season?

Only time will tell, but the HBO series has landed an impressive eight nominations as GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics announced its Dorian TV Award nominations.

On the comedy side of things: “Somebody Somewhere, HBO’s poignant comedy about a single Kansas woman and friends navigating the questions of life, notched six nominations, including Best TV Comedy. At separate times of the year, GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics provides the world the expert Q+ eye on film, television, and, under its theater wing, Broadway and Off-Broadway. In addition to honoring the best in entertainment via its Dorian Awards, the nonprofit organization—run democratically by volunteers—advocates for better pay, access, and respect for its over 480 members, many of whom remain undervalued by the very media they support. GALECA also helps lift-up LGBTQ+ communities’ most underrepresented segments via its Crimson Honors, a national public college scholarship contest for BIPOC LGBTQ women and nonbinary students of color (see here for the inaugural winners, just announced).
