The Walking Dead showrunner reveals global health crisis hasn’t been “overly disruptive” on season 11

March 30, 2020 by Liam Waddington

As a result of the global health crisis, production on the eleventh season of The Walking Dead has been delayed by several weeks, but that hasn’t stopped the crew working on the series by other means.

In a recent interview with Deadline, The Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang revealed the writers are continuing to work remotely and current events haven’t been “overly disruptive yet.”

“You know, we obviously made the decision last week to stop all pre-production, that was AMC, just kind of across the board for their production. So, we still have people working remotely. The writers continue to work,” Kang told Deadline. “We’re still several weeks out from anything shooting so it hasn’t been overly disruptive yet. We’re Zooming and Google Docs-ing and doing all the kinds of things that everybody else is doing right now.”

While it’s positive news that the team are still able to prepare for the upcoming season despite a standstill to movie and television production, other properties in The Walking Dead family have severely been affected. In addition to The Walking Dead season 10 finale been delayed to later in the year, the two-season limited spinoff series The Walking Dead: World Beyond has had its premiere date pushed back from next month to later this year and production on the sixth season of Fear the Walking Dead is currently on hold with less than half of the episodes shot.
