The Walking Dead showrunner teases Maggie’s return in the Season 10 finale and Season 11

April 13, 2020 by Liam Waddington

During a recent sneak peek released by AMC for the season 10 finale of The Walking Dead, it was revealed that Maggie Rhee, played by Lauren Cohan, will be returning to the long-running series after she is seen reading a letter addressed to her from Carol (Melissa McBride) which explains everything that has recently transpired including the death of multiple characters at the hands of the Whisperers.

Now, in a recent interview with ComicBook.com, The Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang has teased Maggie’s upcoming return in the season 10 finale and season 11, claiming there is “great stuff” to come with the fan-favourite character.

“We’ll see Maggie come into the show, and… there’s not much I can say without being spoiler-y,” Kang said. “But Maggie is part of the heart of these people’s lives. There’s so much love for her within our communities, and she was a leader at a time when so much of the leadership at Hilltop had been lost.”

“Even as we’re working on Season 11, we’ve got so much great stuff planned for her,” Kang continued. “So I’m just excited for her to be back in the family and for us to do more great stuff with Maggie.”

Lauren Cohan originally left The Walking Dead in season nine after surprisingly been written off the show off-screen. However, it was later revealed that Maggie and her son left the group to start a new community after the apparent death of Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes.

Unfortunately, fans of The Walking Dead are going to have to wait longer for Maggie’s return in the season 10 finale, titled A Certain Doom, after AMC delayed the episode to later this year due to the current health crisis.
