The Zygons will cause trouble for Earth in new Worlds of Doctor Who adventure

January 30, 2026 by Andrew Newton

Big Finish has announced they will be releasing The Worlds of Doctor Who – Zygon Century: Transformation, a new box set of full-cast audio adventures, this April. Starring Tim Treloar and Eric Roberts, this new box set sees the Third Doctor and other Who characters confront the devious Zygons.

In this upcoming box-set, the Black Cadre, a group of Zygons with a sinister scheme to infiltrate and take over Earth, make their return. Their plans have become more ambitious, but fortunately, there are always some brave souls who stand in their way. The three new adventures in the Zygon Century saga are:

‘1922: The Black Cadre’ by Jonathan Barnes – Zygon agents are everywhere, from Munich to Dublin and even a small asylum in Dartmoor. Can the long-incarcerated investigator of the occult, Herbert Scott, do anything to stop them, and is there more to his rescuer, the German heiress, Ilse Lange, than there seems? Will Herbert be able to find out why the Black Cadre are so interested in the mysterious carnival that travels the wilder areas of the Crnish coast?

In ‘1968: An Incident in Death Valley’ by Lauren Mooney & Stewart Pringle, the Zygon Vorvoren escapes her human captors and hides from the Black Cadre in a run-down diner in Death Valley. It’s here that she learns of a town terrorised by a ruthless cult, but can their mysterious leader, ‘The Arkon’, hold the key to her liberation and revenge?

Finally, in ‘1974: The Caldwell Restitution’ by Ken Bentley, Agent Caldwell is assigned to the British Embassy in Moscow to investigate the new rising star of the Communist Party. Despite being plagued by nightmares of the past and misty visions of the future, he is still prepared to help the Third Doctor put a stop to the Zygon Century, but can they succeed?

Zygon Century: Transformation’s cast includes Jonathan Rigby as Herbert Scott, Charlie Russell as Vorvoren, Eric Roberts as The Master, James Swanton as Anthony Poole, Abigail Thaw as Zanna and Shishkin, and Tim Treloar as the Third Doctor.

This upcoming boxset is available to pre-order now from the Big Finish website for £19.99 for the download or £29.99 for the download and limited edition 3-disc CD box set.
