Tim Burton officially in talks for Beetlejuice sequel

October 22, 2013 by admin

Earlier this week we reported on the rumours that Tim Burton was keen on a return to the film that first made him a star –Beetlejuice – and today it seems as if this rumour has been confirmed with Tim Burton now officially in talks to direct Beetlejuice 2. The sequel has been in development for years now, with Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter author Seth Grahame-Smith writing the most recent draft of the screenplay and it looks like the script is finally at an acceptable level.

Burton looked set to follow up the recently wrapped Big Eyes with Miss Peregine’s Home for Peculiar Children but it may be that Beetlejuice 2 will be his next feature. Michael Keaton on the other hand has had a fairly quiet career over the past decade or so. However, he has a busy schedule ahead of him with HBO and Larry David’s Clear History, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s Birdman, the remake of RoboCop and the Aaron Paul-starring Need for Speed all incoming. Keaton is certainly keen to return to Beetlejuice and I for one would love to see the two reunite.
