Tom Holland would “jump” at the opportunity to play Spider-Man opposite Tom Hardy’s Venom

June 26, 2017 by Jordan Jones

It’s been an emotional roller-coaster ever since Tom Hardy was announced to play Venom in Sony pictures solo Venom film. The actor is absolutely perfect to play the part, and fans couldn’t wait to see his Venom square off against Spid-… oh.

In a baffling, and heartbreaking announcement, Kevin Feige confirmed that Venom would remain locked in Sony’s own “SpiderVerse”, and would never be on screen with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Then we heard news that he might… then more news that we probably wouldn’t. Again: emotional roller-coaster.

So what does Spider-Man: Homecoming actor Tom Holland think about the possibility of the two teaming up? Speaking to Screen Rant, the actor weighed in on the controversy, and whether he would be up to meet Hardy’s Venom:

“That’s something that’s not up to me, I am the MCU’s Spider-Man, I exist in a world with the Avengers. If Venom exists in that world, I don’t really know the answer to that question. I don’t think he does. But yeah, any opportunity to work with Tom Hardy, I’d jump to it.”

It’s safe to say that fans would “jump” at the opportunity to see both characters on screen for the first time since 2007’s Spider-Man 3. Please Sony: don’t let that be the last time we see Venom and Spidey on screen together!

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

Spider-Man: Homecoming sees Tom Holland and Marisa Tomei reprising their roles from Captain America: Civil War as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Aunt May, alongside Marvel veterans Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts and Chris Evans as Captain America. New additions to the cast include Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Bokeem Woodbine, Tyne Daly, Michael Barbieri, Abraham Attah, Hannibal Buress, Kenneth Choi, Angourie Rice, Michael Chernus, Michael Mando, Logan Marshall-Green and Jennifer Connelly.
