Toy Story 5 opens with $312 million worldwide

June 21, 2026 by Matt Rodgers

Toy Story 5 went to infinity and beyond at the worldwide box-office this weekend, rounding up a massive $312 million to become the highest debut in the seminal Disney and Pixar franchise.

The Andrew Stanton-directed sequel became the 2nd largest animated opening of all time, only bested by Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out 2, which debuted to $384M back in 2024.

Toy Story 5‘s haul was made up of $160 million at the North American box-office and $152 from overseas territories. That latter figure is all the more impressive when you consider World Cup fever has taken over in countries such as the U.K. ($20M weekend) and France ($7.2M weekend), where kick-off times might clash with what’s generally considered filmgoing times.

Last weekend’s champ, Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day, suffered a 57% hit from its opening tally, earning $17 million at the domestic box-office and $18.7 million internationally. The critically-acclaimed film has now taken $160 million after 10 days at the worldwide box-office, and is on course to finish its theatrical run with a total somewhere in the region of $250 million.

Elsewhere the summer’s biggest box-office success stories – Obsession and Backrooms – both crossed the $300 million mark around the world.
