Trailer for Netflix’s western drama The Abandons starring Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson

November 6, 2025 by Amie Cranswick

Netflix has shared a trailer, poster and images for the upcoming western drama The Abandons.

Set in 1854, the series centres on the matriarchs of two families – one wealthy, one poor, as they find themselves involved in a feud over land and their fates linked by two crimes and a star-crossed love.

The series sees Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson lead a cast that includes Nick Robinson, Diana Silvers, Lamar Johnson, Natalia del Riego, Lucas Till, Aisling Franciosi, Toby Hemingway, Michael Greyeyes, Patton Oswalt, Brían F. O’Byrne, Clayton Cardenas, Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers, Haig Sutherland, Jack Doolan, Jonathan Koensgen, Katelyn Wells, Marc Menchaca, Michiel Huisman, Michael Ornstein, and Sarah Grace White.

Washington Territory – 1854 – The matriarchs of two very different families — one of wealth and privilege bound by blood, the other a found family of orphans and outcasts bound by love and necessity — find their fates linked by two crimes, an awful secret, a star-crossed love, and a piece of land with silver underneath. The collision echoes the American struggle of the haves and have-nots, in a place just beyond the reach of justice.

The Abandons arrives on Netflix on December 4th.
