Will Smith set for action thriller Sugar Bandits from Stefano Sollima

May 14, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Deadline reports that Will Smith is set to star in Stefano Sollima’s new action thriller Sugar Bandits, where he will play a former special forces soldier who runs an elite vigilante squad working to wipe out the drug trade in Boston.

Sollima is familiar with this genre, having previously covered the criminal underworld. He’s best known for Remorse, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, and the Gomorrah series. His most recent work is the upcoming four-part Italian Netflix series Il Mostro, based on serial killer The Monster of Florence.

Smith and Jon Mone will produce Sugar Bandits through Westbrook Studios. Stuart Ford will produce for AGC Studios, which is fully financing the project. AGC International and CAA Media Finance represent the film’s worldwide distribution rights.
