Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot thanks Zack Snyder for saving her career

January 6, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot has enjoyed a meteoric rise these past couple of years following her casting as the Amazon Princess in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Having only appeared in minor roles in the likes of the Fast & Furious franchise, Date Night and Knight and Day prior to her casting as Diana Prince, Gadot has since become the highest-grossing actress in Hollywood this year thanks to her roles in Wonder Woman and Justice League. She’s also been honoured with the Rising Star Award at the Palm Springs Festival, and during her acceptance speech she has credited director Zack Snyder for saving her career.

“Four years ago, I got tired of all the ‘no’s and the rejections that I just wanted to quit acting,” said Gadot. “But of course the universe works in mysterious and wonderful ways and I received a phone call that I got this very special part. Zack Snyder had this strong vision of who Wonder Woman should be and I am forever grateful that he gave me the opportunity to play this iconic character. Thank you Zack for believing in me. Working on Wonder Woman was a life-changing experience. This character represents so much that I believe in. She’s about doing the right thing, helping others, sticking to her beliefs, and she’s motivated by the most beautiful quality: love. This is something we all need and are inspired by.”

Gadot is set to reprise the role of the Amazon Princess for 2019’s Wonder Woman 2, and is also rumoured to be in line for an appearance in Flashpoint, should the project come to fruition.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League reunites Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta and Robin Wright as General Antiope alongside J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) as Commissioner Gordon, Amber Heard (The Danish Girl) as Mera and Ciaran Hinds (Game of Thrones) as Steppenwolf.
