Yellowstone spin-off Y: Marshals nearing production completion for March 2026 premiere

November 22, 2025 by Ricky Church

Though Yellowstone has ended the franchise is still going ahead with its spin-offs and sequels, the first of which seems to be coming much sooner than previously thought. Y: Marshals, a sequel focusing on Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, is already nearing production completion on its first season.

Y: Marshals will see Kayce leave the Yellowstone to join an elite U.S. Marshals unit, “combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence.”

Rather than air on Yellowstone‘s home at Paramount+, CBS has picked it up for its first season and has set a premiere date of March 1st, 2026. At the CMA Awards, cast member Arielle Kebbel spoke with ET about the upcoming series now that it has a premiere date and revealed production is nearing completion in just a few weeks.

“We’ve been working so hard, Kebbel told ET. “I’m so grateful we have a release date. We can talk about it. We’re actually wrapping filming in like three weeks. So, yeah, it’s getting ready to get put out in the world.”

Y: Marshals features Grimes reprising his role as Kayce Dutton alongside returning Yellowstone actors Gil Birmingham, Mo Brings Plenty and Brecken Merrill. Rounding out the cast is Kebbel, Ash Santos, Tatanka Means, Logan Marshall-Green and Brett Cullen. Spencer Hudnut will serve as showrunner.

The series isn’t the only Yellowstone sequel to continue the story of the Dutton family as Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser will reprise their roles as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler in The Dutton Ranch.

Y: Marshals will premiere on March 1st, 2026.
