Though Zack Snyder is busy working with zombies in his Army of the Dead franchise, he has just announced the cast for his new Netflix series Twilight of the Gods, an anime series based on Norse mythology from he has developed with Jay Oliva.

Starring the the series will be Sylvia Hoeks (Blade Runner 2049), Stuart Martin (Jamestown), Pilou Asbæk (Game of Thrones), John Noble (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It), Paterson Joseph (Timeless), Rahul Kohli (The Haunting of Bly Manor), Jamie Clayton (Sense8), Kristopher Hivju (Game of Thrones), Peter Stormare (American Gods), Jamie Chung (Lovecraft Country), Lauren Cohen (The Walking Dead) and Corey Stoll (House of Cards).

Along with the cast announcement, their characters were also revealed with Hoeks as Sigrid, Martin as Leif, Asbæk as Thor, Noble as Odin, Joseph as Loki, Kohli as Egill, Clayton as The Seid-Kona, Hivju as Advari, Stormare as Ulfr, Chung as Hel, Cohan as Inge and Stoll as Hrafnkel.

Snyder and Oliva revealed work on the series in 2019, though have been silent on its development until now. This marks the fourth project Snyder is developing for Netflix after the recently released Army of the Dead and its prequel anime series Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas. Snyder is also producing another Army of the Dead prequel, Army of Thieves which sees Matthias Schweighöfer in the director’s chair and reprising his role as master safecracker Ludwig Dieter in the early days of the zombie outbreak.

“It’s my take on Norse mythology and it’s really cool,” Snyder explained in the video. “We’re doing it with Digital Dimension who are doing the animation and it’s just going to be unlike anything you’ve ever seen,” says Snyder on the stream. “Because in animation, we can do anything we want which is so fun, and fun for all of us. As the creatives involved, we just can go nuts, and I think you’re going to love it.”

Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder and Jay Oliva will serve as executive producers on Twilight of the Gods.
