Zack Snyder reveals he has Darkseid’s future planned after Justice League

November 11, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Zack Snyder has revealed that he has the future of villain Darkseid planned out after his Justice League miniseries.

One of the things that fans were most disappointed about regarding the Justice League theatrical release was the absence of villain Darkseid. The character will be restored to the film, however, for Zack Snyder’s HBO Max miniseries.

Does Snyder know what happens to Darkseid after the events of Justice League, however? Well, according to the director, he certainly does. Speaking during a League of Mayhem live stream from The Nerd Queens (via Screen Rant) and referencing a conversation with Darkseid actor Ray Porter, Snyder explained:

“If you said to any of the actors in the movie ‘well what happens in the movie’ or ‘what happens later’ or whatever for any movie. And they go ‘well I got the script and it’s cool and I kind of know this and-‘ so [Ray Porter] and I were talking about this and what’s cool or what’s the right response to some questions. It’s a fair question to ask me, you know, like what do I say to the world about, you know, what happens when Darkseid comes to Earth? Then what? You know, Is that a thing? And I think, listen, the truth is that did I write and did I have and conceive a complete- do I know what happens when Darkseid… yes. I do know what happens. To say and to speculate about what that is and that that would be exciting, I think that’s a fine thing.”

It’s pretty exciting to know that Snyder has these things planned out. Hopefully, that means he can bring his idea for Darkseid to life in a Justice League 2 if the Snyder Cut proves successful but only time will tell.

In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder and features Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta and Robin Wright as General Antiope, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Amber Heard as Mera, Ciaran Hinds as Steppenwolf, Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke, and Ray Porter as Darkseid.
