Zoey Deutch joins Johnny Depp in Richard Says Goodbye

July 21, 2017 by Gary Collinson

According to THR, Zoey Deutch (Before I Fall) has signed on to star alongside Johnny Depp in the upcoming dramedy Richard Says Goodbye, which is being written and directed by Wayne Roberts (Katie Says Goodbye).

Richard Says Goodbye sees Depp as the titular Richard, “a world-weary college professor who is given a life-changing diagnosis and then decides to throw all pretense and conventions to the wind and live his life as boldly and freely as possible. With a biting sense of humor, a reckless streak and a touch of madness, he binges through every vice: smoking, drinking, sex, and hurling blunt insults at anyone who annoys him, giving him more pleasure than he’s had in years.” Deutch is set to play one of Richard’s students.

Deutch has several projects on the horizon, including Danny Strong’s J.D. Salinger biopic Rebel in the Rye and James Franco’s The Disaster Artist. Depp meanwhile will next be seen in Kenneth Branagh’s Murder on the Orient Express and is currently in production on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2, where he plays the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald.
