Joe Wright to direct Peter Pan origin story

November 12, 2013 by admin

British filmmaker Joe Wright (Anna Karenina, Atonement, Hanna) has signed up to direct an origin story for famed J.M. Barrie character Peter Pan. Currently on script duty is Jason Fuchs, who previously wrote Ice Age: Continental Drift, while Greg Berlanti (Arrow) is producing.

This is one of three Peter Pan films currently in development with Channing Tatum (21 Jump Street) and Joe Roth (Alice in Wonderland) currently developing Neverland at Columbia and Disney adapting the young adult novel Peter and the Starcatchers with The Hunger Games director Gary Ross currently attached.

Joe Wright is one of the more intelligent filmmakers working in Hollywood and his films are highly original and intelligent, be it an action film (Hanna), or an adaptation of a classic (Anna Karenina), so this should be one to watch out for.
