Matt Smith and Jason Flemyng the latest names linked to Star Wars: Episode VII

November 20, 2013 by admin

Well, now that we’ve had confirmation of our first cast member for Star Wars: Episode VII (well, our first droid), it was only a matter of time before a few more actors were linked to J.J. Abrams’ eagerly-awaited first instalment of Disney’s Sequel Trilogy…

According to a “fairly well-placed source” at Bleeding Cool, outgoing Doctor Who star Matt Smith has went in for a role in Episode VII, with the site reporting that “we don’t know if that means he had an audition, a screen test or just a chat with JJ Abrams or George Lucas.” Maybe he turned up to the open auditions in Bristol, thought the queues were too long and responded to the online casting call instead. Who the hell knows?

And next up is another British actor in Jason Flemyng (X-Men: First Class), who has stated himself that he’s up for an audition. Although the fact that he’s also posted a watermarked page from the script to Instagram (and subsequently deleted it) means he probably shouldn’t free up his schedule too much….

Star Wars: Episode VII is set to go into production in the Spring ahead of a release on December 18th, 2015.
