Lynda Carter shares her thoughts on Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman

December 26, 2013 by admin

Warner Bros. caused quite a stir when the studio announced that it would be giving a big screen debut to Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Man of Steel sequel Batman vs. Superman, with Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious) securing the role of the Amazon Princess in the 2015 release. And now the original Wonder Woman has shared her thoughts, with Lynda Carter – star of the classic 70s TV show – offering up a few words on Wonder Woman’s long-overdue revival.

“I don’t think so. It was a long time ago. I care more about the character continuing than holding on to my piece of it. I hope she has fun with it,” said Carter when asked by Metro if she’d find it strange seeing another actress in the role, before discussing the character’s inclusion in the DC ensemble, rather than her own solo movie. “Maybe that’s better. She won’t have to carry the whole film. It takes the pressure off. I wish her well. I’m just glad she’s going to be out there again. Maybe she’ll get her own show again.”

Asked about the appeal of the iconic female superhero, Carter stated, “There’s an identification factor. She’s not your average superhero. It’s not so much about her super powers as it is about her ethic. I always thought of her as a figure who stands for what’s right. We all know what’s wrong with the world today, so maybe we need her right now.”

Batman vs. Superman is set for release on July 17th 2015, with a cast that includes Henry Cavill (Clark Kent / Superman), Ben Affleck (Bruce Wayne / Batman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent) and Laurence Fishburne (Perry White). Meanwhile Joaquin Phoenix (Her), Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) and Callan Mulvey (300: Rise of an Empire) have all been tipped for roles as the film’s villain(s).
