Eva Green responds to the banned poster for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

June 5, 2014 by admin

It was a couple of weeks ago when the MPAA decided that the poster featuring Eva Green for Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For was too risqué for their liking. The poster, which featured Green as Ava Lord braless in a white blouse, was rejected by the MPAA “for nudity — curve of under breast and dark nipple/areola circle visible through sheer gown”. Since then, a new poster of her character has been released.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Green said of the rejection:

“I’m not actually naked on the poster. I find it a bit odd. It seems like it’s all just publicity – a lot of noise for nothing. You have so many more violent things in the movie business and this is kind of soft. I’m not naked. It’s suggested. I find it really sexy, actually. It’s kind of beautiful. But if it shocks people, I don’t know what to do about it. I don’t want to upset anybody. I don’t want to be seen as just the femme fatale or put into some silly box. I hope that people will have enough imagination.”

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For weaves together two of Frank Miller’s classic stories with new tales in which the town’s most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more repulsive inhabitants. In Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Dwight is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord, and then watches his life go straight to hell. Chronologically, this story takes place prior to “The Big Fat Kill” (featured in the film Frank Miller’s Sin City) and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is set for release on August 22nd, with a cast that also includes returning Sin City stars Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Powers Boothe and Jaime King alongside newcomers Eva Green (300: Rise of an Empire), Josh Brolin (Oldboy), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises), Jamie Chung (Sucker Punch), Ray Liotta (Goodfellas), Dennis Haysbert (24), Juno Temple (Killer Joe), Alexa Vega (Machete Kills), Christopher Meloni (Man of Steel), Lady Gaga (Machete Kills), Stacy Keach (The Bourne Legacy), and Jeremy Piven (Entourage).
