Samuel L. Jackson will return for xXx 3; Conor McGregor also set to appear

December 16, 2015 by Justin Cook

Vin Diesel’s Xander Cage will soon be returning to the big screen in the upcoming third installment of the xXx series, titled xXx: Return of Xander Cage, but a recent post on the actor’s Facebook account confirms that another actor is set to reprise his role as well.

On Monday, Diesel sent out the following picture with a caption that read, “Excited to work with Sam again… his portrayal of Gibbons was so good… timeless. Welcome to the Xander Zone!”…

Samuel L. Jackson played NSA Agent Augustus Gibbons in both 2002’s xXx and 2005’s xXx: State of the Union (which in fact didn’t star Diesel), and Diesel’s post makes it clear that he will return. At this point, he is undoubtedly a staple of the franchise and a necessary addition to the cast.

Diesel also recently made two other interesting announcements on his Instagram account regarding the film. The first of which is that UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor, who defeated opponent José Aldo in 13 seconds last Saturday, will appear in Return of Xander Cage in an unspecified role. The actor shared a picture of him with the fighter and attached a caption; he said, “Timing and precision… The casting of the new XXX gets more exciting everyday. #Iliveforthisshit”…

Secondly, he made a video showing off some concept art from the film. Watch it below…

Sharing some concept art before heading to my meeting. So excited to start filming xXx, it's been a while since we've entered the Xander Zone…

D.J. Caruso (Disturbia) will direct xXx: Return of Xander Cage, which is written by John D. Brancato and Michael Ferris.
