A deal between Marvel and Fox for X-Men and The Fantastic Four is “an impossibility”, says Kevin Feige

November 22, 2016 by Gary Collinson

If you were hoping that the recent news about a deal between Marvel Studios and 20th Century Fox to trade characters for Deadpool and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 could mark the first step in a potential deal to bring the X-Men and the Fantastic Four into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, then I’m afraid Kevin Feige has some bad news for you.

Speaking to Variety, the Marvel Studios chief was asked about the possibility of Marvel partnering up with Fox similar to the Spider-Man deal with Sony, and responded that: “It’s an impossibility at this juncture. We certainly have enough films to keep us busy for a number of lifetimes.”

The news will certainly be disappointing to those fans who want to see the X-Men and Marvel’s First Family as part of the MCU, but given the sheer number of projects on Marvel’s slate – and Fox’s ongoing plans for the X-Men – it’s not entirely unsurprising. Still, Marvel could surely fit in the Fantastic Four, right?

Are you disappointed that we won’t get to see the X-Men alongside the Avengers in the foreseeable future? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
