With Man of Steel just a few months away from release, more details about the film are beginning to emerge, and we heard just this week that Warner Bros. have been holding private screenings to gauge reaction, all of which has been thus far been positive.
In light of this, it is now rumored that David S. Goyer (Blade, Batman Begins) is back to work penning the script for a sequel. Goyer has of course written the script for Man of Steel and so with positive praise flooding in, it was always likely that WB would get him back. Hopefully this positivity will be shared by the general public when the film arrives in cinemas in June.
The questions that arise now are, should the Superman reboot be a hit, will WB push on with Justice League or give Man of Steel the freedom it deserves to spread its wings and fly as a solo trilogy on its own terms? Hopefully a roaring success for Man of Steel will make them think twice about hijacking the original vision of Superman being the only hero in his world, such as Batman was in The Dark Knight Trilogy.
As June fast approaches I’m getting excited about this film, and I hope that Man of Steel is a success, and after Goyer finishes the script for the sequel Warner Bros. gives him the keys to the DC city, lets him dust off that Flash script he wrote and get that moving, as well as some of the other DC characters in their own solo films. Anyone up for seeing a film titled Amazonian Warrior, by any chance? Make it happen Warners!
Man of Steel is directed by Zack Snyder (Watchmen) with a cast that includes Henry Cavill (Immortals) as Clark Kent / Superman, Amy Adams (The Fighter) as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe (Les Miserables) as Jor-El, Michael Shannon (Boardwalk Empire) as General Zod, Kevin Costner (Hatfields & McCoys) as Jonathan Kent, Diane Lane (Secretariat) as Martha Kent, Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix) as Perry White, Ayelet Zurer (Angels & Demons) as Lara Lor-Van and Antje Traue (Pandorum) as Faora. The film is based on a story by Goyer and Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight Rises) and hits cinemas on June 14th.
