Hugh Jackman discusses Bryan Singer and X-Men: Days of Future Past

April 8, 2013 by admin

Not only will Hugh Jackman be bearing his claws as Wolverine again this summer for the sixth time, but we’ll also be seeing him in a seventh outing next year in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Jackman was speaking to Entertainment Weekly when the subject of playing Logan again came up. It seems that though he is very excited about Singer’s return (who replaced X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn), his stomach isn’t quite so excited about the prospect of more films.

“I must admit I was starting to see a life free of steamed chicken breasts, They told me the idea and, at the time, it was Matthew Vaughn [directing]. Instantly, I knew it was a winner. It just felt like everything was coming full circle. However, I must admit my stomach and my mind were like, ‘Oh no.'”

Considering he must have been through a prodigious amount of poultry so far I can’t blame him for wincing at the prospect.

He continues to say, “I owe, in a way, everything to Bryan. The first film I did in America was X-Men. Wolverine is a character I’ve loved playing and I can’t believe it’s going to be my seventh time playing it. It just blows me away. It not only feels like the right kind of project, it actually is so exciting that we’ll all be back together again. I don’t want to give away too much but I’m really excited not only to reunite with all those great actors but also to work with some of the other ones.”

X-Men: Days of Future Past is due for release on July 18th, 2014. Jackman is part of a massive ensemble cast featuring Michael Fassbender (Prometheus), Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Ellen Page (Hard Candy), James McAvoy (Trance), Ian McKellen (The Hobbit), Halle Berry (Cloud Atlas) and Patrick Stewart (Star Trek: The Next Generation).
