Director of The Heat, Paul Feig (Bridesmaids), is developing a spin-off that will focus on Beth and Gina, the trashy family members of Melissa McCarthy’s character, with Jessica Chaffin and Jamie Denbo both set to return.
Feig had this to say about the as-yet-untitled spin-off: “They took small roles in The Heat and turned them into characters worthy of their own movie. I can’t wait to unleash Beth and Gina on the world. Run for your lives.”
Fieg has worked with Denbo and Chaffin before The Heat, directing them in a Showtime pilot Ronna and Beverly, and producing six episodes of a Ronna and Beverly talk show for the UK’s Sky Atlantic.
There’s no plot details yet for the spin-off but I’m sure fans of The Heat will rejoice nonetheless.
