George Clooney apologises for Batman & Robin

October 10, 2014 by Chris Cooper

The expiration date is ‘Forever’. Geddit?

Oh Batman & Robin, you were terrible weren’t you? Neon, nipples and the Bat Credit Card (never leave home without it). A terribly toyetic travesty, you might say. No one came out of it well, and it left the Batman film franchise dead in the water until Christopher Nolan rebooted in 2005 with Batman Begins.

Director Joel Schumacher has apologised on more than one occasion, and now Batman himself has too. George Clooney appeared at the New York Comic Con on Thursday on the panel for Tomorrowland (you can see the first images and trailer here), and had this to say:

“I think since Batman that I’ve been disinvited from Comic-Con for 20 years. I see the comment sections on all you guys. I just met Adam West there [referring to behind the NYCC main stage] and I apologized to him. Sorry about the nipples on the suit. Freeze, freeze, I apologize for that.”

The best parts of the film were the interactions between Clooney’s Bruce Wayne and Michael Gough’s Alfred. So maybe we shouldn’t place too much blame on the bobble headed heartthrob.

Tomorrowland opens in U.S. theaters on May 22nd, 2015.
