Hugh Jackman talks Wolverine future and X-Men: Apocalypse

December 15, 2014 by Thomas Roach

There is still no official word as to whether Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse movie, although the actor has told the Happy Sad Confused podcast that he is being kept in the loop about the film:

“I have been speaking to the guys, and I’m not at liberty to tell exactly what’s going on, which is largely framing my answer here. But there’s still a lot unknown about that, actually. There are some very exciting things about integrating the whole X-Men world, including the Wolverine movie. There’s some really cool things going on.”

Jackman then revealed that a third Wolverine movie is currently in development by himself and David James Kelly, who are  “working on it really hard.” Jackman adds that he’s “very, very excited” about the prospect of the next solo movie.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set for release May 19th, 2016 with James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast) and Evan Peters (Quicksilver) returning and Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis) set to play Apocalypse. Meanwhile the third Wolverine movie is currently slated for March 3rd, 2017.
