James Gunn on how Spider-Man would get on with the Guardians of the Galaxy, says Rocket Raccoon solo movie “would be great”

January 16, 2015 by Thomas Roach

Rumours have once again resurfaced that Spider-Man will appear in the MCU in the near future, be it in Captain America: Civil War or Avengers: Infinity War. Whilst nothing is concrete and seems to be little more than speculation at this point, director James Gunn was asked hypothetically by Clevver Movies how Spider-Man would get on with the Guardians of the Galaxy if it should come to fruition.

”Peter Parker is known for having a great sense of humour so I think he would get along pretty well with some of the Guardians, he would probably get on okay with Rocket, he would probably get on okay with Quill. He may have a harder time with Drax, he probably wouldn’t understand the sense of humour… I don’t know about [Spider-Man] joining the MCU. We will see about that. It’s a long shot.”

Gunn was then asked about Rocket and if we’ll learn more about his past in Guardians of the Galaxy 2: “I have all his origin stuff planned out, I’ve had it for a long time, whether or not or how much of it we’re going to see in Guardians 2 I’m not exactly sure.” Gunn was then asked about Rocket getting his own standalone movie one day, replying that “I would love that, it would be great.”

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is set for release on April 28th 2017.
