Natalie Portman to star as Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in On the Basis of Sex

Fresh from the news that Oscar winner Natalie Portman was set to take the lead in Alex Garland’s Annihilation, Deadline is reporting Portman is aklso set to play Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in new film On the Basis of Sex.

Based on a script by writer Daniel Stiepleman which made the Hollywood Black List last year, On the Basis of Sex has Marielle Heller (Diary of a Teenage Girl) is in talks to direct.

Justice Ginsberg was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1993 by President Clinton, which saw her become the second female justice and was a keen supporter of advancing women’s rights.

Portman can next be seen in Terence Malick’s Knight of Cups, opposite Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett, which opens this December.
