James Wan signs on to direct Aquaman and Robotech

June 3, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Having been linked to the project back in April, it’s now official that James Wan is set to direct Warner Bros.’ DC feature Aquaman, which will star Jason Momoa in the title role as the King of Atlantis.

“The Aquaman film will be a major tentpole picture for us and James’s span of work has proven him able to take on any manner of project, bringing his incredible creative talent and unique voice to the material,” states Warner Bros’ Greg Silverman.

Wan – who is coming off the blockbuster success of Fast & Furious 7 – will direct Aquaman from a script by Kurt Johnstad, while Charles Roven, Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder are producing.

UPDATE: THR is also reporting that Wan has closed a deal to direct the live-action Robotech movie for Sony. So, no time for Fast & Furious 8, by the looks of it…
