Matthew Vaughn confirms plans for Hit Girl movie: “I think we’ve got to do this prequel to regain the love that we had with Kick-Ass”

June 18, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Back at the end of May, comic book writer Mark Millar revealed that he still held ambitions of bringing his proposed Hit Girl movie to the screen, and now Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn has confirmed that development is underway on a solo spinoff for the young assassin, which he hopes will then pave the way for Kick-Ass 3.

“[I’m] not happily done with the franchise,” Vaughn told Yahoo during a promotional interview for the home-entertainment release of his latest Millar adaptation Kingsman: The Secret Service. “We’re working on an idea for a prequel of how did Hit Girl and Big Daddy become Hit Girl and Big Daddy. If we make that, hopefully that will be the sorbet for the people that didn’t like Kick-Ass 2 and then we can go off and make Kick-Ass 3. I think we’ve got to do this prequel to regain the love that we had with Kick-Ass.”

With a prequel, Vaughn and company would surely need to recast the role of Hit Girl, considering Chloe Grace Moretz is already 18 years old now, but it would certainly open the door for Nicolas Cage to return as Big Daddy. Which would be awesome.

Are you excited about the prospect of a Hit Girl movie, and Kick-Ass 3 for that matter?
