Hugh Jackman departs Collateral Beauty, Johnny Depp eyed to replace him

July 16, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Deadline is reporting that Hugh Jackman has dropped out of the upcoming drama Collateral Beauty, just a few weeks after the film was announced.

Producers of the film have been left with the task of recasting Jackman’s role, with the Aussie actor departing the film due to his commitments and scheduling conflicts with the third as yet-untitled Wolverine film at 20th Century Fox, which is due for release in early 2017.

Early word has Johnny Depp (Black Mass) lined up as a possible replacement for Jackman, which also has Rooney Mara (Her) attached. Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) is directing the film, which tells the story of “a New York advertising executive who experiences a deep personal tragedy. When his colleagues devise an unconventional plan to break him out of his depression, the plan works, but not in a way that anyone imagined.”
