Cobie Smulders in talks for female lead in Jack Reacher 2

August 14, 2015 by Gary Collinson

According to The Wrap, Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother, The Avengers) is in early talks for the female lead in Jack Reacher 2, director Ed Zwick’s follow-up to the Christopher McQuarrie-directed thriller.

Smulders will reportedly play the character of Danika in the sequel, which will see Tom Cruise reprising the title role of the former military cop in what is thought to be an adaptation of Never Go Back, the eighteenth novel in author Lee Child’s book series.

Production is expected to get underway on Jack Reacher 2 in November, but as yet there’s no word on a possible release date.
